    Pastor Doug Stowe comes to Good Shepherd by the Lake via a route that runs from Hartford, WI, to 14 years of ministry in Michigan, to St. Louis, MO, and back to his hometown, Oshkosh, WI, where he first learned to love His Lord Jesus.

    Pastor Stowe's passion for the Bible--God's own words by which He reveals His love for His creation (This love is shown in His long faithfulness, culminating in the death and resurrection of Jesus for our salvation) runs deep. Preaching and teaching this Word of God and the good news it declares, from the pulpit, in Bible study, and in personal ministry, is the heart and soul of his ministry.

    Outside of church, Pastor enjoys spending time with his wife, Sue. Sometimes that time is spent traveling, sometimes with their adult children and grandchild, sometimes just sitting on the couch, bingeing whatever has drawn their attention in that moment. He enjoys music--both listening to it and making it--cooking, and watching sports. A nice glass of wine on a fine evening is an evening well-spent!




  • Mary Sommers, Church Organist

    Mary has been part of the music ministry at Good Shepherd by the Lake since its very beginning in 1976. She has blessed the congregation playing the hymns and liturgy for our worship services and by providing and organizing special music to enhance our worship experience. Mary is currently directing the choir as well as they sing songs of God’s amazing grace and mercy in Jesus. We are truly thankful for her many years of dedicated service to the Lord and our congregation. 




  • Jenna Gaastra, Church Secretary

    Jenna is joining the Good Shepherd By the Lake Church staff after many years in sales in the animal health industry. She’s excited to be a helpful and welcoming presence in the church office. When Jenna’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and gardening. Stop in the office and say ‘hello’! 

  • Carol Christopher, Church Custodian

    We all like to worship in a place that is both clean and inviting. Carol makes that possible for us at Good Shepherd by the Lake in her role as our church custodian. Her love for the Lord and for her church is expressed in great care she provides for our church campus.
