Adult Bible Study

Sunday Mornings, 10:15, Multi-purpose Room, Starting January 7, Street Smarts

This study will reveal some of the fundamental flaws in common, current challenges to Christian beliefs and values and provide step-by-step strategies to question and reveal those shortcomings.

Street Smarts offers model questions and sample dialogues to help guide believers in persuasive conversations about hot-button issues like: relativism, the trustworthiness of Scripture, the claims of the Gospel, abortion, marriage, sex, and gender.

You will learn will how to tackle those discussions that we as believers often avoid because we feel out of our element, vulnerable, or exposed. Lucid, well-organized, and easy-to-follow, Street Smarts provides a specific set of questions—the same questions the author of the study, Greg Koukl, uses in his own encounters—that are embedded in sample mini-dialogues that you can use to have fruitful discussions with non-believers.

The Book of 1 Corinthians - 2nd and 4th Thursdays of Month, 10:00 a.m., in the Library, beginning January 11th

The Christians in Corinth were struggling with their environment. Surrounded by corruption and every conceivable sin, they felt the pressure to adapt. They knew they were free in Christ, but what did this freedom mean? In this letter to the church at Corinth, Paul answers their questions on issues related to both life and doctrine: divisions and quarrels, sexual immorality, lawsuits among believers, marriage and singleness, freedom in Christ, order in worship, the significance of the Lord’s Supper, and the right use of spiritual gifts; he also included a profound teaching on the resurrection. This is a strong, straight-forward letter and remains very relevant for our time.
